Side lighting and front lighting is basically exactly what it says. It is lighting in a photograph either from the side or front of the object or person that is being used. Different lighting can connotate different things such as front lighting can show a way forward or a going towards something with meaning or a bright light, meaning death. Side lighting can accentuate males as it shows off their best features and more of a feminine take rather than if the lighting was front on, it would look far more meaner and agressive. Front lighting accentuates females by showing off their whole face and feminine qualities rather than cutting half of their face out making them look manly.
